According to Parker's, CAP and J.D.Power, the average mileage for a motorcycle in the U.K. is 6,000 per year.
So, for a '99 bike, 42,000 to 48,000 miles would be considered 'average'.

Average is 4000 mls per year, but many owners don't ride thro the winter so shop around and you should find many with a lot less... that said modern engines are very robust, check for a service history rather than low miles ... cos even at low miles if the bikes been lock-up for long periods of time and neglected then it's probably gonna give you problems somewhere along the line........ get it checked and ride safe.

The average for someone who just joy rides is around 5-6k a year, so I think somewhere around 48k is pretty good.
To give a little perspective, I commute most days, unless the weather is really bad and I go on ride outs most weekends and I did 10k last year.
Good luck

Kelly Blue Book states 28,300 miles is average for a 450-749cc bike. Since bikes are usually not used as primary transportation in the US (unfortunately) you should find bikes with lower mileage than that.

depends what the previous owner(S) did on it.
EX - they could have been people who drive 50 miles to work every day
or they could never use it much
depends on the owners - every thing is different and unique
sorry
