It sounds as if you are talking about a full grown adult horse who likely already has a name she is used to. It would be best to let her keep that name rather than try to train her to a new one. The adjustment of a new owner and moving will be a large enough adjustment without having to learn a new name as well.

I would name the horse shadow. And hey I am a sister and I am not evil. But anyway, Shadow would be a cool name for a horse.

Not Black Beauty, Shadow, Blackie or anything else thoughtless and generic having to do with her color. Have some imagination.

Based on her colour: Shadow, Star, Midnight, Stella
Bindi (for the star on her forehead, my cat is called Bindi for this reason)
