There was a day when liberals were a respected voice in American politics. Ever since the late '60's, they've drifted further and further towards the "Hate America First" fringe, and are now as alien as Klingons.

They see the President as a greater threat than al Qaeda. They see Don Imus' remarks as the worst thing that has ever been said. They feel that groups should have rights instead of individuals. They feel "profit" is a bad word. They equate Christians with radical Muslims and think that bin Laden was goaded into his acts by US foreign policy instead of his religion. They get downright weepy in their defense of every last comma and jot in the First Amendment, yet feel the Founding Fathers were simply kidding about the Second and Tenth. They have yet to meet a foreign dictator they don't love as long as he's sufficiently anti-American. They preach incessantly about freedom of speech, yet try mightily to silence those who disagree. When did they become so delusional?

To the first responder: how come you couldn't come up with examples to back up your opinion like the poster of the original. question did?

I think he's dead on target. I've been a registered Democrat for over 30 years and consider myself somewhat liberal on a few issues. But I'm getting fed up with the way the party's been hijacked by the far left. And to me there's a substantial difference between "classical liberalism" and today's leftists.

Clue to getting a decent answer: 1) write question in half the length without leaving anything out, 2) try using real English language sentence structure, and 3) use spell check. It can be done. Then your question (?) will become comprehensible. However, quick answer. Sounds like the existential angst that comes from realizing that the world is f*cked up and there is next to nothing you can do about it. So just do the best you can and try to leave the world a better place than you found it. That is all anyone can do. Blessings on your Journey!

No one hates America first; we simply realize that some of our mistakes have come back to haunt us. The irony is that so many of our mistakes were made by the other party, i.e. who was the last man to supply arms to Iraq - viola, I believe his name was Cheney - or maybe it was Rumsfield. And who was supporting the Taliban's battle against Soviet/Russian aggression - there you go again...

So let's get real, we have met the enemy and quite often they are us. Moving on, al Qaeda viruses GWB. Al Qaeda can only attack us physically and psychologically. Bush can attack (and has) our constitution. And yes, I do get a bit weepy when I read it. So it'd regard a constitutional attack worse because its impact can be such a cancerous, metastasizing process not immediately noticed but with far-reaching and long lasting results.

Freedom of speech, cite your example - I heartily disagree with what you say, but as another of those Frenchies said, "I will defend... your right to say it."

Wow! A great question and excellent commentary. Dead on! Right on!

Before I give my answer allow me to nominate SusanDiane377 for the best answer up to this point. As a current Democrat it appears she is someone with an open mind and definitely a patriot and someone with civility and decency from across the aisle, based on other answers she has given.

To answer your question, I think the fringe left we witness here on Yahoo are attempting to create a "new reality" for us in the United States.

Everything you listed above is so true for them and slowly but surely they are gaining supporters in their efforts to overthrow our government and way of life based on the foundation our fore fathers established.

I have stated before and will state again, people like the Damascus Diva, Harry Reid, John Murtha, John Kerry, and Ted Kennedy are not friends of you, or any of us who value the freedoms we enjoy in our great nation. They do all that they can get away with to undermine our laws, constitution, moral fiber, factual history via education and the family unit here in the United States of America. They and there followers are among the true enemies of our country and the sooner you and I get a grip on understanding that the sooner we can eliminate them and allow Democrats who love our country to work side by side with Republicans and continue to make our country even greater than it is today or ever has been.

I believe the far left puppet masters have them right where then intend them to be. What better way for the government, far left and right, to get away with anything it wants than to keep the voters angry and fighting with each other?

Yes, the liberals do not really care what the constitution says, nor do they care about what makes America different than the rest of the world. Also, if they had their way, eventually no one would be allowed to say anything for fear of offending someone.
The liberals will not allow anything to be extreme and powerful except moderation.

I agree with you about the Imus thing, but Bush IS a greater threat to the U.S. than al Queda.
