Imus isn't all that bad. Sharpton is just an azz and has a big mouth. There was no reason they couldn't have just suspended him. Even if it were for 6 months. Yea he was wrong. But there's no need to burn him at the stake. He didn't do anymore wrong then anybody else. He just said it over the air. That was wrong. But to take his job? That too was wrong. It would be one thing if he just plain attacked the team or even black women. But he doesn't. He attacks everybody and everything. That sort of makes it even. I don't hear anybody else carrying on. And if those girls messed up their "Happy day" by taking down a radio announcer then it's their own faults. There was no reason to make such a big thing about it. He apologized. That should have been enough. If anybody on that team ever needs the help of any of Don's organizations, I'm sure his first question would NOT be, what color are they or what nationality are they. He treats everybody equal. Whether it be a slur or a praise. And as far as the team not having a great moment? They took that from themselves. If they can't handle a few sticks and stones then they will be crying their way all thru life. Why can't they throw themselves a party? They had a big accomplishment. Somehow I wonder if they aren't just taking out their loss on someone else. Maybe Imus should throw them a "good job" party. But I'm sure that wouldn't make them happy either. Don is a great person. People today just don't understand that when ya say something it isn't meant for it's meaning. To call someone a MF, doesn't mean that his mother did anything. It is meant at the person itself. It doesn't mean what it really says. So when people call names, they don't even really say what they mean. This has gone way too far and that poor man shouldn't have to put up with such nonsense. Howard Stern has said way far worse things and he got away with it forever. He's up there with Andrew Dice Clay. But Imus isn't really all that bad. I can't even listen to rap it's so bad and they go after him? Hell. He's like candy compared to rap. No. Don does not deserve all this crap. I feel so bad for him. Truly I do. Everybody is so out of control these days and he gets pegged. It's so unfair. And just last night I was watching Whoopi Goldberg on Bravo. Sure enough she told a joke that had the n-word in it. How come that was OK for her but not for anybody else? Double standard what? But she followed it up by saying...did you laugh at the joke cause it was funny or did you laugh at the joke cause of that word? So THIS makes it OK? I don't think so. But you won't see anybody take HER down for it.

No. He can be employed by someone else.
On national news outlets, what he did was reprehensible.
The fact that the advertisers pulled out, if you want to talk money - which is the language of business, is enough to show his language is neither right nor profitable.
Imagine if he had referred to the University of Florida and Ohio State University men's basketball teams in the same vein. People would have an easier time knowing it was WRONG. People should know that when you talk about women in the same fashion it is equally wrong. Somehow though, some people just don't get that, and still don't.
Let Imus take his schtick and spout it to an audience who wants to pay to hear that garbage, just like some people buy music that is filled with garbage.
As a nation, on our national news outlets, we shouldn't have to be subjected to idiotic, racist, sexist trash. There's enough of that already in everyday life, we don't need it broadcast and endorsed with multimillion dollar deals.
And just because sponsors may have been back (which I seriously doubt), does not mean that people with a conscience, backbone, and thought should put a "shock jock" back on the air to spew more filth. I think the era of "shock jocks" on major media outlets is over, and rightfully so.
We need to teach people to leave people and places better than we found them. Protect free speech, but don't endorse and spotlight people who clearly cannot hold their tongue, continue to propagate ignorance and have no regard for fellow human beings.

Yes, and Al Sharpton should be taken off the airwaves instead. Imus made a mistake, but Sharpton is publicly showing his racism and trying to hide it behind a cause.
I am not an Imus fan, but his firing is a blow to the first amendment.
He deserved to be punished.
Double jeopardy laws state that once you are punished for a crime, you can not be punished a second time.
Sharpton pushed for this law to be broken.
He is a hypocrite. Where is the love and forgiveness Reverend Sharpton.

I still can't believe anyone had a problem with the joke. If Imus watched Chris Rock or Dave Chipelle, or listened to any rap he probably thought his comments were totally ok. I love all that kind of humor. It decreases my racism.
To me there is nothing worse than hypocrisy and the hypocrisy here is some of the worst I have ever see.
Who are Sharpton or Jackson to claim the moral high ground on anybody? They are liars, scammers, race pimps and shakedown artists. They are proof that if you tell a big enough lie, everyone will believe you.
Sharpton and Jackson are increasing racism and have for their entire careers.

YES, ABSOLUTELY!! Imus really is a good man to all races and has a proven track record to verify this. He continues to be a blessing to poor children with cancer making every effort to make them happy for what little time they have left on earth. With his voice he came forward to help the crippled soldiers coming back from Iraq. With his wife they have informed and brought to light the devasting disease "Autism" and what needs to be done to stop children's suffering. As a "shock jock"...yes, he said a stupid thing on TV. Haven't you ever said something that you questioned yourself afterwards about why you said such a stupid thing. Did you at least apologize for it? It was said, there is no way you can take it back, no matter how sorry you are afterward. It's unfortunate. I'm sorry that MSNBC and CBS, who knowingly put Imus on the air did not think to put a 7 second delay into the airing of Imus's show because all of this could have been avoided. NOW, please list for me all or ANY accomplishments from Al Sharpton so I can compare the qualities of both of these men equally. Equality, isn't what this is all about?

Most definitely. He should never have been removed in the first place but we have the drive by media, and the racist Jessie and Al to thank for that one.
To THINK and Anyone else who posted above me. He was hired as a shock jock. The company hired him, expecting him to cause controversy and say shocking things. You cannot criticize him for doing what he was hired to do. Stop being so ignorant! If he didn't have a fan base, aka people that like what he does and says, then he wouldn't of been on the radio. If you want to cite the fact that sponsors were leaving as a reason to fire him, you are wrong on that point also. I guarantee you, the minute the flames died down, they would have been back in droves because his fans are still fans and businesses are all about making money. This makes advertising space on his show still very valuable.

The "worm" is already turning. I heard this morning that Politicians won't have a place to go and "let their hair down" with out the Imus show. His charity work is also coming to light. Looks like, once again, the racist card might have backfired.

Yes...He apologized...and he DOES do charity work...The Imus Ranch is for terminally ill cancer children to experience farm life, animals before they die...A suspension would have been appropriate...Firing him was WAY out of line...Since he was connected with CBS and NBC, he should give them the "bird" and go to ABC...but he will probably wind up on satellite radio, where Howard Stern is...

Yes, and by not giving him that chance they are making a lot of people very angry. It scares me because I seen what happens when a country is divided and that is what Al Sharpton is doing. Do we want another Sunni verus Shiite thing in this country?
