Would this be fin-rot or is it just because I have a big amount of Current in my tank?

it might not be fin rot...how big is your tank? I am guessing that his tail is getting sucked up into the uplift tube of your filter and it is shredding his fins.. What you can do is take a nylon...yes a brand new ladys panyhose...cut off the foot part long enough to go over your uplift tube...put the tube inside the nylon and secure it at the top by either tieing it on or a rubber band. This will allow the water to still go through the tube but your bettas fins wont be able to. Works very well...also if you have plastic plants in there they can tear a bettas fins...switch to either live plants or silk.. Shaz

I have to agree w/ Shaz about the outside filter's uplift tube as that hase killed one of my bettas in the past due to his fin getting caught in it and him dying from the stress! (I wasn't home when that happened but I found him dead w/ his fin stuck in the tube!) Now I always use some kind of prefilter like a piece of foam stuck on the end of the tube, though I have never thought of nylon! Thats a good idea! I don't, however, know what kind of filtration you have so that may not be the cause. I might think about reducing your current for a betta anyway as they prefer a very light current. I also don't know if this betta has tankmates. If so I would guess that his fins are being nipped at by other fish. I have witnessed neon tetras nibble at betta fins before and have heard that many other types of fish have done the same. I personally never keep my bettas with other fish with that being one good reason why.

Good luck!

It depends where the tears are. Bettas don't like a lot of current in the tank - can you point the filter to the glass or remove it if there's no other fish in there?

Physical damage to his fins could let bacteria attack leading to fin rot.

If it IS fin rot, it's likely to attack the outer edges of his fins, eating away at them toward the body - have a look at the pictures here: http://bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm

In fin rot the fins appear to grow shorter and shorter and have dark edges. It is mainly caused due to dirty water.
If your betta fins are torn or there are clear splits then it could be due to stress because of the current OR some tank decorations may be tearing his fins. So search for any tank decorations with sharp or rough surfaces/edges as bettas have very delicate fins.
Here are some pictures of fin rot, causes and remedies.

Fin rot would leave a distinctive appearance: http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/fin_rot/

The current could have cause the tail to be caught in the uplift tube of your filter, but it could also have been ripped by rough edges on plastic plants, driftwood, or ornaments in your tank, or other fish (if any are present) nipping your fish's fins.

It is probbably fin rot. Betttas lile warm water with verry little movement. I suggest to use a fungal/parasite/bacterial medication at regular dosage for 2 weeks. Make sure he/she is not fighting with other fish. To help with the treatment add aquarium salt

Well, this can caused by other fish in the same tank. If your fish is alone, he is probably nipping at his fins because of depression. And he is probably depressed because he is lonely . You could get him a bottom feeder like Cory Cats, Loaches, and Plecos. Also Platies, Mollies, and Guppies are great tank friends for your fish! I hoped I helped!!
