An anthem is a composition to an English religious text sung in the context of an Anglican service. The term has evolved to mean a song of celebration, usually acting as a symbol for a certain group of people, as in the term "national anthem".

In England so-called 'chavs' or 'ravers' describe dance music as an anthem because it sounds 'powerful' because of the beats.
However an anthem is a song that makes you feel good and makes you want to do something awesome. National Anthems are a very good example because they show a country united under one banner and if you're in the right mood, make you want to stand up for your country

No. An 'anthem' is any song that the whole audience begins singing when they hear it. Good examples of this are:
Free Bird
Shooting Star
We're Not Gonna Take It
and so on
It can be a country song, or dance (such as Mony, Mony) or any music genre. This common thread for an anthem is its ability to raise the voices of the audience!

Some people who listen to dance music think they own the word. They don't.
I'll go with something about bringing people together, and everyone sharing the experience, something that makes everyone feel they belong.
Wiktionary:
anthem (plural anthems)
1- (archaic) Antiphon.
2- A choral or vocal composition, often with a religious or political lyric.
3- A hymn of praise or loyalty.

Not necessarily. Any song can be an "anthem" if it becomes a legendary song. I consider "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath and "Crazy Train" by Ozzy to be anthems, but I wouldn't try to dance to them! Same with "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead and "Black Blade" by Blue Oyster Cult. Great metal anthems--but not great dance tunes! If you want to dance, listen to jazz. If you want to ROCK, listen to metal and punk! I did "slam dance" to the Sex Pistols, and "Anarchy In the U.K." and "God Save the Queen" are my fave punk "anthems."

i'm hoping this is shaggy dog tale. i do no longer think of that any guy would be that cheesy to represent that track. yet merely on the off risk this is no longer a shaggy dog tale (God help your fiance), attempt yet another U2 track. My husband and that i the two love the "with or with out you" by ability of U2, even though it wasn't appropiate for a typical dance track. as a replace, we performed "perfect day" on the top of the ceremony.
