I think that the only non-optional is suffering & pain , which very similar to me. (by the way , those may cause you grow.you should choose it)
you will have times in life when you face pain & suffering , like the death of a loved one.thats very painful.
I think all the rest are up to you :) , regret : when you acting with yourself , you won't regret about any action you make , even if it is mistake(which is also non-optional) , it may be painful , but when you know that when you act you listened to yourself , you realize that you were just fine , even if you made mistake , you should not regret from past actions but to learn from them.then you will not regret making them , even if they cause you pain.
"I have made it a rule of my life never
to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of
energy... you can't build on it; it's only good for wallowing
in."(Katherine
Mansfield (1888 ~ 1923))
worry : "Why worry?
If there is anything that you can do to change it then change it, if not then why worry " (Dali Lama).
frustration:you choose it , even if something not going as you expected , you should think why it happaned , and you may even be encouraged by the fact that now , you have great potential to get up & grow :).
i missed doubt and stress.
doubt : positive thing to me , because it is an indicator of thinking . actually i think you should doubt and not to accept thing as they are known to be.
stress: there is positive stress , which is temporary , before important events , thats natural. negative is constant felling , which i think strongly connect with worry.

A fine question, as I think none of us spends enough time examining how we feel and why...
It seems to me that anger is not a pure emotion--it is something that is born of some other feeling, like sadness or grief or frustration. We choose anger when its cause is too much to bear, or we don't have the means to cope, I think.
Anger is common because the other emotions you have listed are inescapable. I think we all experience them in our respective measures, and what is optional is not the experience itself, but our reaction when they occur in our lives.
For some of us, it is easier to cope with worry, or frustration, or even suffering perhaps. Some of it is our constitution, while some of it, mercifully, can be learned, and also lessened by the presence and care of others.
Perhaps it is in direct proportion to the amount of greater emotions in our lives (love, hope, joy, empathy, altruism) that we are able to experience some measure of triumph over that which would hold us back emotionally, and, just maybe, those greater emotions afford us greater choice.
Thanks for a fine question.

Pain and doubt are not optional. They come with the body, and the mind. The rest are largely optional, especially whether we are possessed by them, or merely recognise that we possess them. I don't think it's a question of will-power. The more one saws at the bit of a runaway horse, the more likely it will throw you and bolt. So I think the trick is to cultivate the calm we all have within us when we put fear and greed and fantasies aside, analyse the problem, and either do what we can about it or put it aside. After all, most emotions are most importantly just the first step of learning something valuable. So enjoy what's to enjoy; and deal with the rest.

Nothing is more expensive than regret and had I a choice I would eliminate that one. What is pleasure without pain? Doubt and stress with frustration and would take an indomitable spirit to conquer such emotions. Unless your an unfeeling automaton I do not see how any of these can be optional. I think with time and training there can be control but to make them optional I do not think it is possible.

we, all experience regret for what we should have done or not do, In life we tend to worry, a lot for various reason's,Pain,is unavoidable, so everyone suffers from it one way or the other, Doubt, comes to those that are not sure of what they can accomplish, in life, which means that some individuals are not sure if what they are doing is right or wrong. Stress, comes when you cannot, let go, of what it is that is bothering you in your daily life,Frustration, attacks those that are not sure how they want or are not sure of what they can accomplished. Stress, frustration, and Doubt, are the optional things we can go without, but it is up to every individual to think positive not negative, and any thing you want out of life will fall into place.

The optional emotions are: Regret, Worry, Frustration, and Stress.
Regret is a choice because a person chooses which decisions they make as a person because everyone knows what's the right and wrong choice in every situation, so regret can always be prevented.
A person doesn't have to Worry about anything unless they choose to because a person has a choice whether they want to live a certain way or to live care free; people can know and surround themselves with positive energy around them where Worry wouldn't take a hold of them or the people around them.
Frustration is also a choice because we all can choose whether we let something get to us. There is a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that says, "Never allow someone to make you feel inferior without your consent." It's pretty self-explanatory what she meant by this. We don't have to let a person, thing, or whatever GET to us and make us feel as though we're less than what we are; everybody and I do mean, everybody knows that there is more to them - more than anyone can see because everyone knows that they are kings and queens in the inside; they're superior to themselves and the people they are around but to themselves more than anyone else.
Stress is something that every human puts on themselves because every single person knows their limit and how to balance out everything including: family life, career, money, fitness, friends, romance, fun, and personal growth or spiritual development in one person's life. With all of these things one person has to deal with, we have to remember balance. A person can schedule a family vacation once a year, in a career we have to plan what we can handle & when we'll be promoted, money needs to be planned & balanced as well, we have to know our limits when we work out because it can take a toll on our bodies, we have to know when to socialize, we have to set our limits to what we want in a partner, we have to know how to have fun, and what to believe in & how it reflects our moral code; I said all of the following to get to the main point - we build our own stress and we need to set boundaries with balance.

Nothing is optional. Nobody lives on a bed of roses and we are all bound to go through all these emotions one day. Regret, worry, pain, doubt, stress or frustration all causes suffering so they are interlinked.

EVERY emotion is optional; you have the power to turn your emotions on and off. If you feel pain withdrawal yourself from the situation. If you allow your self to be concerned with all the outside factors which play into emotion you will be a prisoner to your self.

None are really optional - it's how you deal with each one that's optional. You can take each one as it comes, work through it, get over it and move on. Or you can let the negatives take over your life and prevent you from being a functional human being.
I've experienced all those to some degree, but it's never taken over my life and made me hide in my room and pull the covers over my head.
Like a great philosopher once said: "that which does not kill us makes us stronger."
Or it could make you a world-class wuss.

I think that if a person truly lives then none of these emotions are optional. What is optional is how we react and deal with each emotion. If we let it debilitate us than we have let that emotion get the best of us. However,if we take what we are feeling and work through it then we learn to deal with our emotions. I think to truly live we must experience all these emotions, it's when we stop experiencing them that we ourselves are eradicated.
