My friend is 26 wks pregnant and recently had to stay in hospital because she was losing amniotic fluid around the baby. They released her and said if she lost anymore she would have to go straight back as she would probably go into labor.
Im so worried for her and I was wandering if anyone else had been through this and what the outcome was?

A slow leak is common and premature labour and infection are a definite risk at the moment for her, I think she should be having complete bedrest until the baby comes.

my mom went through the same thing and she just had a baby in oct. they doctors are not going to do anything for her as long as the baby is ok.. my mom went to the hospital twice because she thought that she was in labor and all the told her was that she was losing amniotic fluid and that there is nothing they can do unless the baby starts hurting inside.. all they are going to do is keeping sending her back home. if she feels that there is something wrong tell her to go back to the hospital and tell them that she wants them to check the baby and make sure everything is ok.. I wish her luck and hope everything is just fine for her..

I had similar problems - amniotic fluid was low. I was working too much and not resting enough. I had to go on complete bedrest and eat healthy. Then, everything became okay. Try to tell your friend to take it easy if she can for the rest of the pregnancy.

I haven;t but wanted to make sure you knew that amniotic fluid CONSTANTLY replaces itself. Small leaks often repair themselves and if they released her from the hospital this one did too. Best wishes and prayers for your friend!
