There are two politically powerful women in America you have Hilary clinton and Condoleeza Rice not sure about Nance Pelosi (not being American) in the UK we had a woman Prime Minister through the 80's she even took us to war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands 25 years ago.
Do you think either Hilary Clinton or Condoleeza Rice will ever get elected to the most powerful office in the world or do you think the world is not yet ready for a female president?
I think if America ever votes for its first woman president I think she will be just as good as a male president maybe even better. Do you think America is ready for a woman president is there change in the political world of Washington DC?

America will elect a woman president and, just as with your experience with Margaret Thatcher, she will represent the interests of the ruling elite in exactly the same capacity as male presidents have. The general public, aside from participating in a little cheerleading, will find no significant policy changes and their lives will be little impacted.

Yes, it's probably just a matter of time. Whether or not the American electorate will entrust the job with a woman, or if there is a woman who is popular enough is the question for the 2008 election.

Comparing a woman Prime Minister with a woman President is not valid. The offices are not comparable and the office-holders are selected in very different ways.

The Prime Minister is the head of government and is appointed by the Queen (or King) from among the House of Commons and is usually the majority party leader. This is more like the Speaker of the House than the President of the US.

The President, on the other hand, is the head of state, the head of government and commander-in-chief of the armed forces. He is elected by the Electoral College which in turn is elected by the voters of each state and the District of Columbia.

Whereas there have been women Prime Ministers in several countries, even some with a very male-dominated culture, there are very few women Presidents. Finland and Switzerland currently have female Presidents and a woman named Segolene Royale is in the 2007 race for President of France. Even so, the office of President of these countries have fewer powers and responsibilities than the President of the US.

Clinton sucks. That witch will never see the oval office again unless its a visit. Condoleeza is not running. We will have a women president when we get a credible candidate. This is the most powerful political job in the world, and we are not going to fill it with a woman just to fill some stupid quota.

I do not think there ever will be a woman president. even if men are not the majority of voters when a woman runs for president men who used to not vote will vote just to keep the female from winning unfortunanty this is a very prejudicial country even if we do have some rights, I don't really believe we will ever have that right. I did a thesis paper on this in college and the results were very founded. MEN just cannot stand having a WOMAN in controll of them, when it all comes down to it, that is what it is all about. SAD but TRUE

First Pelosi is a natural born American. Second it doesn't matter if the world is ready for a femalr president of the US, the only thing that matters to Americans when selecting a president is how Americans feel about it. Third, politics is all about change. Fourth, of course American voters would elect a woman, providing she were the right one

Yes, its inevitable. This time around (at this time) it looks like Barack Obama will be the winner over Hilary Clinton, but its really too soon to tell. Condi Rice has not announced a candidacy, so probably not this time around.

Eventually there will be. Most of America is ready for a woman president. The problem is there are no good woman candidates.

Yes I do believe that a woman will make it in office someday and do a great job, but definitely wont be HILLARY CLINTON, she will end America as we know it. She talks out her butt cause her mouth knows better! If you listen to her closely she says one thing, then an hour later she says another. Vote NO for Hillary

There will be a woman President someday. But it won't be Hitlery Clinton.
America will NOT elect a pacifist socialist wench like her. She has to be strong, black and hot.
