Of course they did. Democrats are historically authoritarians. In principle, they ought to be more comfortable with the Bush League agenda than the old-time Republicans should. Frankly, I think we've got a better chance to turn this country back around by nominating a maverick Republican than by trying to find a Democrat who really, in principle opposes the president.
