what do you exactly have to do to become a music director? i don't understand whether a music director himself composes music, or whether he waves his hands to direct music, or he does both? iam always confused.

Get a Master's degree in Music - probably Music Performance.
There are more than one kind of music directors - some are more "behind the scenes" than others. The thing with waving your hands is a "conductor", and they may not necessarily be the same thing.
