Just this morning, 66 more Iraqis were killed in bomb attacks.
For those who still don't get it, terrorism in Iraq is like a water balloon.....squeeze it on one end, and it just gets bigger on the other. Two months into the surge, and it's business as usual for the bombers.
There is no possible triumph in Iraq and very little hope left.
This is the pandora's box that Bush/Cheney opened. And now, it can't be closed.
We can't save the Iraqis, but we can save our troops.....by getting them out.....just like we did during Vietnam.
It's a pity politicians don't study history.

Yes ... Liberals are trully winning this one.
we should get out now, much like California and New york since more people die in each of those states than in Iraq and Afganistan combined. Why is there no liberal outcry to pull out of those two liberal controled states?

G. Bush got an undergraduate degree in history but apparently learned nothing from it. This war has gotten out of hand; it was a hugh mistake and It's not likely that it can be resolved militarily.
It was a "shoot from the hip mentality" to start it. With a little bit of patience we could have "gotten even" via "intelligence", and infiltration. For every Iraqi killed we are producing another generation of American hating orphans. Ask your parents (or grandparents) about Vietnam; only this is even worse. How long do you think that the surge (euphemism) can go on before replacements are needed?
Get ready for a draft. All the Bush supporters under 35 years old might change their tune when their number comes up.

Isn't it amazing that you think the surge should be "working" when it hasn't fully happened yet?

It's a pity that you don't study history (see WWII and the appeasement doctrine) (see also the Clinton administration and his abandonment of the Kurds). Don't be so shortsighted. Sadly, when we abandon Iraq, it will rightly viewed by the world as yet another time when modern Americans bailed out when things got tough. It will take decades of standing up for what is right to repair this damage wrought by the left. Pathetic and sad.

Edit: This fight has been long in coming. It has been coming since middle eastern dictators and islamic extremists chose to use the west as a whipping boy to rally people behind them for their own ends. W didn't start this war, he just stood up and refused to lose it without a fight (unlike the UN and his predecessor). You are foolish if you think we should have been much farther along in this short time. This is at least a 10 year process to have the smallest hope of success. Wake up and actually try for success. This isn't a nintendo game you can finish in an afternoon.

I am an Intel Specialist in the Navy. I hate to tell you bone heads this but, since the war has started 80% percent of the violence has been in Baghdad, Iraq.

The surge has wiped out hundreds of bad guys in the capital. For the first time in years Baghdad held a Fair-like parade a couple of weeks ago.(See Washington Times for pictures)

The Gov. of Iraq wants us there. Point Blank!

The majority of the weapons that kill U.S. troops come from Nancy Peloci's Syrian friends and Hillary Clintons Iranian friends.(a little bit of sarcasm there)

Last year we had 843 U.S. fatalities in Iraq that resulted from hostile action. We had more murders and crime than that in two American cities if you add Philadelphia's crime rate and Detroit's crime rate. BOTH CITIES ARE RAN BY DEMOCRATS. DO YOU SEE REPUBLICANS TRYING TO DEFUND DETROIT? Imagine what would have if we defunded Detroint and stop giving the federal benefits. (Liberals dont take that statement to heart, just making an outstanding example)

The surge is working so well the Democrats scrambled to defund the war immediatly and then went on vacation.

Folks if you dont believe nothing I say believe this, The Democrats can't afford politically for us to win in Iraq. For the sake of their party they want us to lose.

seems to working great, 66 Iraqis died, No Americans or UN soldiers, so whats the problem. It's like gang bangers shooting each other, the only ones complaining are other gang bangers and there families, who do nothing to stop the gangs in the first place, So I don't see a problem, the Iraqis will eventually realize that there futile bombing of each other is not scaring anyone away, and as usual, they are only hurting themselves as a people.

Its a pity yes. The troops should be out. The victims family compensated, an injection of cash into the economy for reconstruction (as promised). And a WORLDWIDE APPOLOGY from the British and the U.S. governments to those that were decieved and to the families of the dead from both sides.

History tells if the fight is worth fighting, then fight it. Unfortunately for Bush, he's been pathetic in explaining why this current conflict is worth fighting. Couple that with a natural impatience in modern America - the war is essentially doomed for a p.r. point of view. America lacks the blatant brutality to win a war of this type. We don't need to study Vietname, but rather the Iraq-Iran War and Saddam Hussein.

It's going great just read a Republicans response to your question. I just don't see how everyone in the WORLD minus 30% of the US see's what a debactle this war is and still think they have the right to tell us it is going well and that we should be there. Also don't see how everything reported and shown fact wise tells us it is going so bad its unwinnable but yet they sit there like lemmings and stand behind their man. Unreal.

Edit: Hey Mike K.. damage wrought by the left, does this now mean that we are responsible for this crap war? Holy cow don't tell me they are going to start blamming everyone but themselves for going to war now to!! Such nerve, wow.

Reading questions like this, it reminds me of the words of encouragement Bob Hope gave to the troops in Vietnam: "We're fifty percent behind you."

Why does Mike K think it hasn't hapened yet. Boy it takes a long time for the US administration to get moving. It's actually been 4 years. Why wasn't a proper exit strategy worked out before the war???? Oh yeah, it had to take 4 years of bloodshed for W to get it through his thick skull!
