Hey can you guys think of ways to help me get a cell phone? I just need to convince my dad- I already convinced mom. I just need a few more good ways and I will have a yes. He is very stubborn, and I think it's mainly because I am too young or it's a waste of money. He doesn't really like cell phones to begin with.

Why would you want one of those things, they are so un-cool, so dated

It's a major compromise, but...

Sprint offers several cell phones with a feature called "parental control". This feature allows Dad and Mom to create a set list of phone numbers that your phone is allowed to call. Anyone's number NOT on their approved list will simply not dial out (or IN.)

Also, Sprint offers a service called " Family Locator" which is a GPS system which allows your parents to check on your physical whereabouts via PC. For example, your phone can notify your parents if you don't show up at school by a certain time, or even if your car goes too fast.

You might not like the idea, but it could sell your Dad on the whole idea of permitting you to carry a phone.

Just give up and let your dad be the boss. My parents were so strict I tought it would kill me, but you know what? Your friends do not notice as much as you think they do. When you are out on your own, you can catch up and have the things you think you need.
