I took the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan in for an oil change. Dealer informed me that the transmission solenoid is leaking and needs to be replaced. Where is this part located? Is it inside the transmission or outside? How difficult would it be to replace?

Its an aluminum box located on the front of the transmission just above the transmission oil pan. If you peek under the bumper find the tranny pan, then scan straight up from there. It will be the box sticking out of the side of the tranny that is covered in reddish fluid.

These leak all the time by the way so its not uncommon.

Its on the outside top of the trans. and is not a bad job. Its a bank of solenoids and available online from various suppliers.
