LOL
While the above answers are interesting, cinnamon, pepper, red or green peppers and cucumber are just silly.
If you salt the ground around your lettuce, you'll kill the lettuce. The Romans salted the fields of the countries they defeated to make the people more reliant on the Romans for support and food.
Organic is a relative term. If you're looking to use something to convince the ants to leave rather than kill them... that's like super-organic.
Best bet: Kill the ants.
Of course, you want something which will NOT poison you or hurt your plants. Here's some suggestions... though they are poison and I don't know if you can actually buy them. I'm a professional so it's easy for me.
-Terro ant bait.
-NiBan ant bait.
Both of these are boric acid products. Since they are baits the chances of them filtering down into the soil is reduced, but still do your best to protect them from drowning.
If the ants accept the bait (and they're not Odorous House Ants, Pharoah Ants, Argentine Ants or Pavement Ants) it should wipe-out their colony in a week or so. Baiting near the nest (not right down the hole) is the best way to do it. Put the bait about a foot from the nest entrance for best results, and disturb as few ants as possible. If all the bait disappears, add more until the ants are no more.
If they don't accept the bait, you're pretty-much out of luck and need to call a profesional. At least call one out who will give you free advice... and will actually show up on your property to properly identify the ants.

From what I've heard, you can sprinkle salt in affected areas. I've been told they hate salt, probably because it really messes with their sensory system.
