Human being is the highest manifest stage in the cosmic life cycle. There is nothing beyond the form of a human being life is expected to go. It is only as a human being that the soul atman within us gets liberated forever from the cycle of birth and death. It is only as a human being one gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and salvation (moksha). Having obtained salvation our soul atman leaves for the abode of God, the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism)... a point of no return!

We are born human beings after passing through a cycle of 7.3 million manifestations... a long journey indeed! Initially we manifested the form of an insect, then plant life and finally animal life. In the human form also we have 1.1 million types of manifestations. The journey in the form of a human being is expected to be covered in 12.1 million earthly years... when a human being reaches the stage of enlightenment and finally salvation.

In the cosmic life cycle the total journey of the soul atman within requires 8.4 million manifestations on the whole and an earthly life cycle of 96.4 million years. What can be more pleasing to a lusting human form that it is only as a human being one reaches the kingdom of God (Baikuntha). Being on the highest pedestal of life... we human beings are supposed to take care of all our younger brethren... an insect, plant or an animal.

We human beings have already passed through the stages of insect; plant and animal life... why criticize those younger than us! More on Human Beings - http://www.godrealized.org/humanbeings/human_being.html

Hello. Come on now! What's the big deal about being human? Well for starters, YOU have been given the right to choose whether you'll spend eternity in heaven with God or in hell with satan. You can become an actual CHILD of God who'd be born of His spirit and know God your very own self personally! The fact that we have a will and can choose God and upon death go be with Him is what sets us so incredibly apart from the animal world and the angels also. The big deal about being human is that God created a body for you to live in on this terrestrial ball we call earth and see the beautiful blue sky, hear music and delight in it, feel it when love is moving us, and how we can go see things that are so marvelous that it takes the breath away. God supernaturally wove your body to what it is and caused you to grow within your mother's wojmb and gave you a spirit and personality. That you are a one of a kind unique person from ANY other human being in all of history past, present, or to come. You are it, and after you have left this world there will be no YOU to assume the place. One of these days there's gonna be a glorious Homecoming of all God's saints and we will have a time like never seen before anywhere at anytime. So that's why being a human is such a BIG DEAL! Peace!

The big deal about being a human is that we are GOD's creation and made just a bit lower than an angel. We've been given the Bible as instructions on how to live our lives. Additionally we've been given a free will which allows us to choose what we do. GOD has also given each of us a conscience which tells us when we've done wrong. It's our choice. Humans are the most incredibly developed out of any of GOD's creation.

So many people have answered free will and intelligences,
Free will is just a perception thats all because if I were to walk butt naked down the street the very same people would be against that.
What I am saying is that why do we have rules and laws if free will is the best thing about being human, if we were intelligent we would have recognized this.
How can one say apple juice is the best drink in the whole world when they have never tasted any other drink.

So I am sure if we were dogs would be the best species I am sure they think so too in thier way.

There is no big deal its just that humans need to see the bigger picture which is that everything in the universe is important in its own way.

I wonder that too sometimes. Cool question.
We're self aware. We're not the only animals with a sense of self awareness, elephants and possibly dolphins are too... but I think that still makes us pretty special.
The fact that we've created religions and moral codes make us pretty cool too. (Even if we may not follow them always.)
We have a pretty highly organized social structure that has enabled us to work together to create all sorts of specialized tools and systems.
We don't even really have to work to live. We can just sit around and let the government take care of us if we really want to do that. There's not any other species of animals that gets that sort of preferential treatment species-wide. That's a pretty big deal.

The big deal is that it is relative to us. That is why it's a big deal to US. It is a big deal for the world because we try our damnedest as a species to control all of the inhabitants of the planet. It is also a big deal because we change and alter the environment which effects the rest of the creatures.
Answers such as "because we are more superior..." is an ego centric opinion that does not give credit to other species that have existed with OUT harming the Earth or its inhabitants. We are NOT superior. We are equal. We just happen to have philosophies...religions...politics and many other attributes which cause us to THINK that we are superior to the rest of nature.
I think we are just more complicated than we need to be. I would be quite happy with living the life of a newt!

The "Big" deal about being human is that we are all literally our heavenly Fathers children and He loves us all so very much. He sent us to this Earth so that we could experience life on Earth and then some day we will return to His presence. No matter what you do in your life you must always remember that you are here for a reason and being human is a great part of our heavenly Fathers plan for us. Just be glad your among the valiant, it's truly worth being here.

It is true that we are vastly more intelligent than any other lifeform that we know of but it's not really a big deal. We are all just an arrangement of atomic particles that have been around forever and will be here long after we are gone. We are but an insignificant spec in this vast universe. When we are gone we will leave nothing behind and no trace of our existance (except maybe plastic).

If you have ever been a tree before, you would know the answer. Imagine looking over and seeing a beautiful tree of the opposite sex in the distance, giving you the come on over wave with lots of branches, check out that trunk. Hey I am going over there, if I can get my leg out of the dirt, hmm, I seem stuck, wow the weather is turning crappy, wow lightning in the distance, that would hurt! These birds need some manners, hey go crap somewhere else! Being a tree is nothing but a Birch!
