So many keep asking why are there historically black colleges? DUH! because the other colleges used to be white only and blacks didnt have the same rights as whites. there was a time that blacks werent allowed to learn to read. these colleges were developed years ago to give blacks that oppurtunity, DUH! anyone can go, DUH. and if you arent black you would be considered a minority and chances are you would recieve a scholarship and go for free DUH!! research your ?'s before you post them, otherwise you look like an idiot.

Because they have a point that they are trying to make. And if they did the research then they wouldnt be able to get there point across because they would know that they were wrong. Its basically people that want to spread hate they do not want to be told that they are wrong.

The details you provide suggest your original question is as a result of frustration with an individual question.
Many times the reason people ask here is that it is easier, and more friendly, than wikipedia or other possible searches. Asking in a sentence or two (or ten) is easier than figuring which key words will find why you want, and then paring down the long list of results of a search, do another search from there, etc.
I'm not all that good at research myself, because I tend not to know which key words will yield what I want. What do you call that thing I want to know about? That whatchamacallit that sticks under the widget and changes it somehow?
Specifically, it is very hard to search for something which has the same name as something else, such as the time I searched on "dolls" and got mostly porno sites!

Sometimes its faster to ask here rather than google and then try to assemble the data yourself. A good answerer will atune themselves to the style of the question and the education level of the person asking it. The answer will be presented in a way they can understand.
I don't think anyone who asks questions looks like an idiot. I think the ones who look like idiots are the ones who stay quiet and don't want to show that they don't know something.

Because in case you haven't noticed the United States is becoming the dumbest nation on the planet.
People ask stupid questions because it easier to ask than do the work themselves and find the answer.
I've experienced this many times with people that are too lazy to look up words they don't understand in the dictionary, even when the dictionary is right at their fingertips (online)

A lot of people do not take the time to research their questions. Also, a lot of people ask the most stupid questions anyways... My most hated questions are the racist-hate-ignorant-evil garbage spewing ones. So idiotic. You can tell someones intelligence by the words that they write...

I'm not condoning that people don't do research but I do feel if there's an easier way, some people will go that way.
