A teaspoon of paraffin oil will act as a powerful laxative. A very rapid cure for constipation.
If you obtain it from the chemist/pharmacy, check with them first.
It is generally not poisonous if pure, but make sure first. Do not rely on Yahoo Answers for such information.

The difference between a substance being beneficial, inert or harmful is a matter of dosage.

As said above small amounts are probably ok, large amounts would be very dangerous. (see addition below for more info)

I depends on where you live but where I am paraffin (or kerosene) is not mineral spirits. Mineral spirits is much more highly refined.

Addition:
I just had a look for some MSDS data and doesn't really have a great deal of actually figures. This is largely due to paraffin coming from an distillate. The actual compounds it is made up of will differ depending on the source of the raw material. Some of these compounds are not particularly nice.

For constipation I would be sticking to Castor oil.

Paraffin in the liquid form is sometimes called mineral spirits. It is a home remedy for constipation. Taken in moderation, I do no think it is poisonous.
