Why? Considering the welfare, management, airport, safety and customer's feedback. Qatar is very strict with their employees whereas Emirates arent as strict. But was the service provided compromised? Was there a major difference? Qatar was given 5* because of it's first class entertainment and comfort features, not because of the excellent service. So, which is better? (Pls focus more on the cabin crew life; welfare and the horror stories you read over the web and provide your valuable feedback). What did your cabin crew friends from both airlines feel about working for their respective companies?

I have flown both -- twice on Qatar and several times on Emirates. I'd have to say from customer point of view, both had same high level of service. For long-haul flights, I prefer Emirates but more for other reasons than quality of cabin crew -- Dubai for layovers rather than Doha, menus, etc.

I only know one person who used to work for Gulf Air and a few other airlines. She always said Qatar and Emirates were considerably better than Gulf or others to work for...but that's all I really remember about the conversation (we went to the same conference in Doha). Sorry I don't know more specifics of employment aspects.

Qatar Airways is the best.
The airline was established on 22 November 1993 and started operations on 20 January 1994. It was originally owned by members of the state's royal family but was relaunched in April 1997 by a new management team headed by Akbar Al Baker (Chief Executive). The airline is owned by the government of Qatar (50%) and private investors (50%).

Qatar Airways Privilege Club is the airlines Frequent Flyer Programme with the highest earn rate in the world. Qatar Airways is one of only four airlines that have achieved the five star status by an independent airline evaluation firm, Skytrax.

Qatar Airways was the official airline for the 2006 Asian Games that was held in Doha, Qatar on 1-15 December 2006.

Qatar Airways introduced a new livery for their planes in 2006. The first aircraft in the livery was an A340-600HGW. The livery was launched at ITB Berlin in March 2006, featuring the word "QATAR" emblazoned across the fuselage in burgundy, with the fin painted with the image of an oryx (the national animal and icon of Qatar). The livery was designed by Australian Marketing company Performa Global.

Qatar is a five star airline by startrax so it would not be that bad as the other person. I would suggest bring along a big bag and put all the other bag (eg. laptop, handbag) in the big bag and you can try to placed all unnecessary items into the checked in luggage. Have a pleasant flight. :-)
