Yes I'm afraid I've known quite a few male rabbits whose behaviour has not been affected by castration!
A friend of mine currently has four rabbits, 3 males and a female. She keeps them separately housed an exercises them in separate runs. The males would always want to fight if they got anywhere near each other, so she's just had them all castrated, and the female spayed so they could play together. This was a couple of months ago, and they still fight so she's had to keep them separate!
The main reason for getting a rabbit castrated is if he is living with females. Since yours isn't, I wouldn't say it's essential - rabbit neutering is not as essential as cat and dog neutering - they are not as prone to health problems as a result of remaining entire. The only problems I've seen on uncastrated male bunnies is fight wounds!
I certainly wouldn't expect castration to calm the rabbit down any, so if you don't want it done, you don't have to.

I believe that most of the time (75%) they will improve their behavior. I had a rabbit that was castrated, and he became the sweetest thing ever! Well, some of the times they will not improve the behavior.
However, I believe that, in addition to the rabbit population and rabbit bonding, castrating will greatly reduce the risk of testicular cancer(by 95%). Also, unaltered males will have a lot of pent up sexual frustration, therefore mounting anything he sees. He may spray strong odor urine like a hose! This spraying, I believe is eliminating by altering your pet.
However fixing your pet is totally up to you and your decision. IMO that castrating him would be a better safe than sorry.
Good luck!!

do not recommend this as it would cost more than the rabbit is worth. to help stop the biting and scratching go to a rabbit show and ask some one who is showing the proper way to hold a rabbit, it is not like putting a dog or cat in your lap when you first start to train them. Also wear long sleeve sweat shirt and put a small carpet pad in your lap and hold till calm , do not pass around to other family members, only one person should hold at this time. do this for 3 or 4 times a day for a few day, if the rabbit takes to be held by you then introduce a new person to holding it after you have held it .

Hello,
I don't think castration is the answer. Neutering often improves a does' nature but not necessarily a bucks'.
Rabbits, generally, do not like being picked up, as their instincts tell them when their feet are lifted from the floor they are about to be someones' dinner!! So they will kick and scratch to get away.
The key is correct handling, I find with my larger breed rabbits they prefer to be transported to and from the hutch in a pet carrier as they feel safer with this. If you do need to pick them up ensure that the rabbit is fully supported and try to carry with their feet flat against you to keep bunny happy. Try to practise a few times a day so that both you and the bunny get used to correct handling, also show other members of the family so that bunny will feel safe no matter who is picking him up.
To interact with your bunny, sit on the floor with him and let him come to you, he will be happier to sit on your lap if he put himself there and knows he can get down when he wants to.
Hope this helps!

There are continuously threat with any operation. yet having a rabbit savy vet cuts down on maximum of those hazards. the main significant subject they won't be able to anticipate is the reaction to anesthesia. I merely had my rabbit neutered a splash over a month in the past and become terrified lol. yet he's doing impressive and acted like he had no longer something performed approximately 2 days after the surgical treatment.

I took on an unwanted male rabbit last week and I intend to have him neutered. I'm not sure how old he is but he's young. He's very tame though, he loves to be stroked but he's not keen on being picked up. He hasn't bitten anyone yet but who knows if that will change?? He's on his own at the moment but I'm waiting for his brother to arrive too, although if it takes much longer I expect they'll fight when they meet again.

My rabbit before we got him fixed humped everything and anything that moved! He was VERY hard to handle I just assumed it was his previous owners, but i got him fixed since i have 2 boys and 2 girls and hes fine now ! He doesn't feel the need to hump everything that moves and he no longer bites and is a lot easier to control. But my other male rabbit had no change hes still a little crazy

its not necessary to neuter and rabbits dont take surgery well. If he is not around others hes fine. as for making him calmer its usually there personallity just like anything they have different temperments even female rabbits can be bitchy. practise turning the rabbit over in your arms so he lays on his back and tickle his tummy he might not like it at first but will get used to it. if he is a large rabbit make sure he is held securly as he could be struggling becasue he feels like he might be dropped.

Sometimes it can make a rabbit calmer but sometimes it has no affect on them and it can make worse. Rabbits and anesthetic don't really get on and they don't have a very high rate of survival so it may just be best to leave him. If you ask your vet he/she will be able to advise you what is best to do.
