Because unlike the Europeans, we were nice enough to welcome the japanese companies into our country. As we see now, it was a bad mistake, but....it's also our car companies that produce large, inefficient cars that no body buys. Because of this people turn to japanese companies. Its not that were not clever, its that we dont learn from our mistakes.(ford, gm) of making cars with huge engines that run on gas instead of diesel/ethanol/hybrid....thats why we keep losing to the japs. and they still dont learn their lessons even though gm is going bankrupt and so is daimler chrysler.....they just dont want to learn.....

Making money and making cars are 2 different things. US car companies focus too much on unecessary stuff like style and gadgets in the car. The Japanese are more into reliability and performance.

We let them in and get the manufacturing jobs genius. When we decide to ban China's junk too then we will see who is more clever at making money that would devastate the slave labor trade in China or the labor market as it's known there. By the way the japs have to make them here because we have people here to design them and plants to build them in and the profit they lose to the unions takes a chunk too so count your money before you spew off.

I'll be honest. GM especially, found their CEO's in the accounting dept. While he may be a whiz with numbers, he doesn't know crap about cars.
