Generally, the serving size is about the size of the tortoise's head.

We would feed a baby daily, a young tortoise (about 2-4 years old) every other day, or skipping a day or two a week, and an older tortoise every 3 days, or a few times a week.

We do this to avoid the problem of obesity since most of our captive tortoises cannot get the same amount of exercise they do in the wild.

Of course, with most species, there are some foods you can leave available most of the time- grasses for the grassland species, and green leaves for forest species.
