I am a valued customer at Humpty's family restaurant, I go there often to do my homework and I spend hours there drinking and eating. But because my boyfriend works there the owner doesn't want me there because of distractions. I don't even talk to him, I treat him like any other server and my purpose there is to get my work done. What do I do in this situation?

I would say you respect his wishes. Your boyfriend will be distracted while you are there, whether you realize it or not. And legally, the owner has the right to refuse service to anyone, as it is a private establishment.

If the owner doesn't want you there, you shouldn't go there. Restaurants are not for studying, they are for eating. Also, I doubt that you are spending as much money on food and drink as other customers who just come for a meal and leave. Are you spending $30 an hour at this restaurant? That is what they could be making if your table were availible. I suggest you find someplace else to study.

The eating place proprietor has the best to refuse provider to all of us see you later as he would not discriminate against you illegally. you have not have been given any ideal to take a seat there for 'hours' doing all your homework.. that's what your house is for! Guzzling loose refills would not make you a 'valued customer' the two... 'waste of a table' is extra like it! do not dangle around your boyfriend at artwork or he won't have a job for long!

Go to another restaraunt. I don't mean to sound harsh but the owner has the right to tell anyone not to come in as long as he is not discriminating...and to prove that you would have to show based on your race or age he is denying you entry with no reason...here his reason is justifyable....you may act appropriately but your boyfriend may be distracted.

The owner has the right to refuse service to anyone he chooses. It's the law.

He can refuse to serve you. Nothing you can do about it. Find somewhere else to study.
