Are you sure she's pregnant? Rabbits can have phantom pregnancies which make them build nests as well.

Take her to a vet, he can palpate her abdomen and tell you if she is pregnant or not. If there are babies in there it is a possibility they're dead or in trouble, so it's important to get her to a vet. I would say it sounds like a phantom pregnancy tho - since she has messed the nest she is obviously not planning to use it, she would not put babies in a dirty nest. Please clean it out!

do you know when she mated? it takes rabbits 30 to 33 days [sometimes a little more or less] to have their babies. if it has been greater than 35, chances are she had a psuedo pregnancy. even if you saw her breed, if things are not right in the first week, her body will absorb the babies. she might go though the routine of being pregnant w/o having any babies. if it hasn't been over 35 days, be patient a little longer; and no, don't clean out her nest. email me if you have any more questions

leave the nest alone the mom knows what shes doing :) my rabbit did the same thing i was going to clean it but i called my cousin first (she used to breed rabbits) and said do not touch anything dont handle her too much either shes probably going to have the rabbits when nobodies home or when its quiet in the house my rabbit had hers when i was in school and i came home and there was 7 babies! but keep an eye on the babies the mom usually eats her first litter (my rabbit ate one on the 5th day and i had to take all 6 of the bunnies out and hand feed them until they were 8 weeks)

has your rabbit definitely been with a buck? If not she could just be broody, this should pass and she will go back to her usual self. If she has been with a buck monitor her closely and it might be helpful to ask your vet about it. I wouldn't clean it out if she is pregnant as it may upset her and your smell would be left in the nest. This could cause her to neglect her babies or even kill them so be careful. If she is just broody you could take her to the vet to be spayed but rabbits don't have a high survival rate with anesthetic so it may just be better to leave her to get on with it.

is she a first time mom? did she possibly have the litter and eat them or kick the them out of the cage? she could have had a false pregnancy! if after 40 days from date of being bred remove the nest and rebreed.

If that's her first time, she probaly would not be attentive to what to do. that's alright to maintain the youngsters interior the orginal nest. attempt to inspire her to feed and shield the youngsters- if she's mad, pass away her on my own. Lay the mummy down and tutor the youngsters her nipples to consume- if she's enable you to. it is alright to the touch the youngsters yet purely once you are able to desire to, too plenty coping with isn't sturdy. If the mummy would not feed for them interior the subsequent like 5 hours, i might seek for a "foster mom" - just to be risk-free. incredibly pass the nest- just to get it out of the water bottle.

You should be making another nest for it, made from lovely roast vegetables with your rabbit taking pride of place on top. It has even taken its own fur out to save you a job.
