i have no idea what you are talkin about.... so instead.... i will give you some priceless information youmust keep close to your heart about ketchup....

For a start, Americans eat it, according to a recent article in Vogue, at the rate of three bottles per person per year. But the original ketchup bore little resemblance to what might be called our national sauce. The words "ketchup" and "catsup" both come from the Malay word "kechap," from the Chinese word "ketsiap," a sauce made from fermented fish and brine. Pickled fish sauce may not sound all that appealing on french fries, but the Malay word "kechap" itself really only meant "taste." After the word migrated into English in the 17th century (as "catchup," still an accepted spelling), it was applied to a variety of sauces and condiments. It was only with the importation of the tomato to Europe from its native habitat in South America that what we now know as ketchup was born. Modern ketchup is made of tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar and spices, and not a speck, thank heavens, of pickled fish.

No, you can't stop progress. You can't uninvent things.

One of the things the Luddites were against was the free market. They believed in price fixing etc.

I have a lot of sympathy for them, and for similar movements such as those against gene technology, but you never can put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Not normally -

But every time a piece of technology makes me feel like an idiot - like when I can't figure out why my PC speakers won't speak or where the page counter disappeared to on my 360 or when I realize that even photoshop is beyond me - then I sort of wish I lived in a cave. Albeit one with indoor plumbing and heat.

Yes.

I left a fast-paced interoperability architecture career (computers) to teach knitting and tutor basic math to plumbing students.

Never been happier in my life.
