if your thinking of going to 512 ram you still may have to do it in two chips depending on your computer (check your owners manual) but i noticed you do some gaming and cant stress enough to get yourself a seperate graphics card...the onboard graphics are always crap and do lag your system during any graphical sites or game play.the ram chips are different prices depending on how new your computer is (anywhere from $25-100 bucks for the new types) a new graphics card (and way better then any onboard graphics cards) run from $50-$150, of course there are some that are like $300+ but thoes are more for major 3-d mesh designing... you will notice a great improvment! i just recently went out and got a 22 inch wide screen flat panel moniter for $200 bucks....it was so worth it! *drool*

More RAM should be on top of your list. Now is the time to do it because RAM is cheap but maybe not for long.

A good graphics card could be next on your list so that you may be able to play current games at decent settings.

RAM, RAM, RAM! Then upgrade your video card. I feel like 1 Gb of RAM is currently the minimum and many of my machines are running 2 Gb and it is well worth it. I can't give you a price without knowing what sort of RAM you need. And as the previous answerer alluded to some motherboards get better performance utilizing 2 identical RAM modules in "dual channels". So you need to scope out your documentation or go to http://www.crucial.com. They have an excellent method of determining what will run on your machine. Then check their prices and go to http://www.newegg.com and check out theirs. You also need to determine whether you have an AGP slot or PCIe to know what sort of video card to upgrade to. Have fun!

for a budget of around £100 you could upgrade your memory and also buy a decent graphics card for your gaming
your memory would see a massive improvement if you upgrade using a 512mb module, you can get one of these for around £26 from http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=237277
then you could buy a nvidia geforce 6200 with 256mb of video memory for around £35(http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=555356)
these 2 upgrades come to around £60 and will significantly improve your p.c,s performance
good luck
