Well remember that you can get a yeast infection anywhere on your body, it is just most common in the vagina.

A yeast infection in the vagina will result in redness, itching and possibly swelling, burning and a white/yellow discharge from the vagina.

So to answer your question...no nothing comes out resembling cottage cheese. That stigma was given to yeast infections because of their name. People associate yeast with whitish lumpy goo, so the joke became that a yeast infection would produce cottage cheese looking stuff from the vagina, of course that isn't true though.

As a sufferer of chronic yeast infections I have learned that even though there is a list of symptoms that are common for yeas infections, one may have some or all of those syptoms. Usually the first signs of a yeast infection is itching and burning and a thick yellowish discharge. Sometimes the consistancy of that discharge is just simply unusually thick and sometimes has a yellowish brown color tint to it. Sometimes in that discharge you can find the white cottage cheese looking stuff. From experience I have learned that althogh you may not always be able to see the cottage cheese looking portion of the infection, it can usually be found further inside the vagina.

If you have never had a yeast infection then you need to see a doctor to make sure that it is nothing else. A yeast infection can clear up quickly if you have the appropriate antibiotics to treat it.

Good luck!

Having suffered from yeast infections many years ago, I can say yes, depending on the severity, you can have a discharge that looks like cottage cheese. However, there are many other signs that you can read about here: http://womans-health.net/signs-of-yeast-infection.htm.

Hope this helps!

I have had the cottage cheese consistency to my vaginal discharge before when I've had yeast infections but usually I look at the top part of my vulvar area to see if I have anything white going on there as well as observe whether or not I'm itching.

I would definitely recommend seeing the dr about this to see what they think.

men don't know what they are talking about. White is discharge and can come out lumpy in the middle of the month and thin out more closer to your cycle. perfectly normal! Now a yest infection cases the discharge to turn a yellowish color and along with itching some times burning you have a yest infection.
