I guess it depends on the people involved. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. Some people are more comfortable with it closed. Sometimes the body requires it closed. Some people like to see the person, touch the person one last time. For me - just give me a urn, play some happy music and celebrate life!

Its simply the preference of the family. But I do think that there should at least be a brief period of viewing the remains if the family wants a close casket. The remains could be viewed just prior to the services perhaps. People have better understanding and closure if allowed to view the deceased if only for a brief time.

closed.its too hard watching the casket being closed during a funeral.you can go see the body before the funeral at the funeral home.
