How robust/durable are our laptops these days (physically)?

Just like years ago.

Some break if they fall 4 inches.

Some can be run over by a Hunvee. Varies by mfr and model.

As to the longevity of normal units, I think most are making very good laptops in general that are lasting as good as older ones.
