a gross bug that is long with lots of legs in an un-scientific description

A really cool bug!! I had one once that a mom of a student had brought in. It was almost a foot long. To keep it alive in captivity, my students and I went out and caught some crickets to throw into the large container we kept it in.... then we watched as it stalked the cricket, then pounced! Then it proceeded to twist the head off the cricket... round and round..then it pulled the head back like a Pez container and sucked out the innards of the cricket. Wow! A nature program right before my eyes! About a week later, I set it free.
Oh, and it had only 42 feet... not quite a CENTIpede.

A very long, flat insect rumored to have 100 legs. They do not have 100 legs, though. They have very long antenne usually a red or brownish color with sharp, matching colored fangs.
They can be lethal and are best to be avoided.
