He was talking about the Rutgers womens basketball team and said "they're some nappy headed hoes arent they?"

He called the women nappy headed hoes. To call a black woman nappy headed is a negative comment because it is stating that she is unkempt because she does not comb her head. Calling a woman a hoe is also a negative comment because it is stating that she is having immoral sexual relations with many different partners. That said, many black people call other black people nappy headed as an insult. In the black culture, having curly or wavy hair is a sign of good genes. If your hair is kinky it is a negative stereotype that you have more African traits, and you do not have good social skills. It is a form of debasing in society. I am a fan of Imus and I will miss his show. I don't think he should have been fired however, he has made so many comments before. By the way, Imus is not a conservative, he is a centralist, which means that he chooses political figures from both Demoratic and Republican Parties like myself. He is also not a racist. He has a ranch where he opens his door to children of all color. He is an advocate of combatting sickle cell anemia, which is a predominant disease in the black community. His charitable work is without reproach. He is just an older person who is cranky, sarcastic, and his jokes are not in time with the development of society just like my father. My father says things just like him only my father is black. Take away the color and they could be cut from the same cloth.

Sorry you lost me at Imus being a conservative Republican. He supported Kerry in 2004.

You're just another fine example of trying to paint conservatives as racists. Liar.

I think you are a little off base on Imus being a Rep.

Imus has said many sexist and racist things in his ridiculous show. It was time to call him on his dirty mouth; This incident had deeper repercussions because he directed his remarks to young, bright, innocent shining stars and to call them what he did in their moment of stardom was awful. He has paid the big price and hopefully others would be more sensitive to the truths around them/. Any form of stereotyping is racism- plain and simple. As for who he votes for and whether he is left or right or in the middle..well who the hell cares? What difference does it make? He said it and now he pays the price. He can vote for Kerry Bush or anyone and it will have no affect on what he did.

Imus is well known as a liberal.

Imus was one of the only liberal radio broadcasters that consistently bashed Hillary. Hillary turned her cronies loose on him to shut him up.

Remember Lieberman and what happens when you stand against your own party and put America first? It's the liberal way - my way or the highway!

It relies upon on the fellow's ideology and why they vote Republican. i'm a Democrat myself. yet did you comprehend that blacks were traditionally Republicans because the Republican social gathering became the social gathering of Lincoln, the president who freed the slaves? many elderly time blacks nonetheless vote for the social gathering of Lincoln (it really is how they see it besides). And it became only those days that the tides of the political events shifted and Democrats began catering to blacks. yet I agree that both events are particularly racist. EDIT- i'm by using no skill condoning or praising Lincoln. i'm only pointing out that many blacks some time previous supported the Republican social gathering therefore. study your historic previous.

Imus is not a Republican. I'm white as can be and my hair would be nappier than hell if I didn't blow dry everyday.

What he said was wrong, but by no means racist. He called them "nappy-headed hoes." How the hell is that racist? Isn't it more racist to assume he's talking about about black people because of the "nappy hair" comment?
