The iPod shuffle has two playback settings: Random and Play in order. When you add songs to your shuffle do it using a playlist. It makes it much easier. You add songs to your playlist in the order you want them. Next you update your iPod using your playlist. When you are ready to listen make sure you have selected play in order rather than random and you should have a good idea of what is coming next.

The shuffle plays the songs either randomly, or in the order downloaded to the camera. That's your two choices.

But it is easy to jump to the next songs. It just doesn't have a screen to tell you which song.

Also consider the MS Zune. Excellent unit for the money. I wish I would have gotton the Zune first and I wouldn't have bothered with the shuffle. Check it out before you decide: http://www.zune.net/en-us/meetzune/default.htm

Go for the nano. It's small and extremely thin & has a nice screen. ;)
