Would that suck---or would it work--If I were very careful?

There's a few factors that you'll need to consider.

1. How big is the hole you're drilling
2. What quality is the glass your working with

If you're drilling a larger hole, say 1/4-inch or larger, you're going to have a tough time of it, even with a glass drilling bit.

If the glass is inferior, some low quality liquor bottle, you're likely to shatter the thing when you start drilling.

If you do try this, wear gloves and protective eyewear that covers your eyes completely. Glass shavings in the eyes really wouldn't be cool.

You have to have a wet drill to drill holes in glass bottles. (My brother works for a glass company).

you need a diamond impregnated glass bit. google "glass drill bit" for these. there are a bunch of hits.

You will be limited in size. you will also need to use water as a coolant. go slow. good luck

it will shatter unless you use a proper glass bit.
