Government regulating speech...hmmm....have you ever read the first amendment? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
If government begins "regulating" one mans free speech they will take away all free speech. You and I and anyway else can say anything we want. That is why it is called free speech. And for the record, a company has every right to fire someone for saying something. Companies are not government and they operate under different rules. If I owned a company I would certainly fire someone if they insulted someone else. It's bad business. But regulating my speech is bad government.

Kingmonk, you wrote important words for us all to remember about our freedoms,
BUT the U. S. Congress has already started 'regulating' a man's freedom of speech. AND they are trying to make it lawful for them to do more.
1. A person cannot say anything about disagreeing with a particular lifestyle, action, believe, ...; and wording of their new laws make it very possible that soon it will be lawful for them to imprison anyone who does.
2. With some exceptions, a non-profit (which many of us have relied on) that does research & shares information on findings with voters will be held accountable with fines, loss of non-profit statis, etc if they don't comply with the new 'gag order'.
You state, "But regulating my speech is bad government." Remember that when you hear or read of the U.S. Congress in their attempts RIGHT NOW
1. to put a 'gag order' & restraints on groups [which include non-profit ---- and will soon include YOU as joe-blow] (w/ exceptions of Planned Parenthood, etc -- in a nutshell, liberal organizations)
who are sharing information with voters about politicians;
2. AND a gag order that comes with a prison-term on any citizen [minister or not, old or young] who dares say a particular lifestyle is not acceptable, not to be encouraged, in fact is not 'inline with Scripture' or morally sound, or morally right, or ... anything of the sort.
In other words, some United States Citizens are not allowed this 'freedom of speech'.

Now you want to take away our freedom of speech, I don't think so. Why don't all of us put pressure on the black leaders that are always in front of the mic. why not stop buying the ghetto trash music and the music company's will make it go away. I don't need a new law to tell me what is right and what is wrong, we need people to stand up and say enough is enough.

If we legislate against rap how soon until someone says we should legislate YA, Fox News, Rush, Coulter, etc. because some people find what they say offensive?
Freedom of speech....little bit of a double edged sword

In a song, white rappers are just as free. NO MORE BIG BROTHER! It's just music for goodness sakes. It's not 1966, anymore? What is wrong with everyone.
A small group of racists, no different then has always been around, and everyone is trying to censor everyone.
FREEDOM of SPEECH? Anyone hear of that ??

No chance!! Stuff like that can't ever be regulated by the Government because it's a violation of free speech! All I can say to you is ghetto rap is good. Rappers just tell their stories of growing up in the bad side of town. I hope you get the message loud and clear.

If you really want to do something about it , then join the rest of us who are calling for McDonalds and Wal-Mart to stop sponsoring$$$ Al Sharpton's show and website .
Earlier today , I finally said 'Enough is Enough' . I found out who sponsors his show and website and called them . I told both Wal-Mart and McDonalds that I would not spend another dime in their stores until they withdrew their support for Sharpton .
But I'm only 1 guy right ? Wrong !
I also posted several questions in several different categories about this idea . Since then , I've been getting emails all day from others who called and decided to boycott any company that supports this Racist . Others have contacted their networks of friends and they're calling too !!
If you really want to stop this nonsense , then call :
McDonalds Corp # 1-800-244-6227 , then push 1, then 2
Wal-Mart's Corp # 1-800-925-6278
We can whine and complain. . . . . or we can do something about this BULL !!
SPREAD THE WORD !!

No, the government shouldn't be regulating any speach.
It's time that the media and public who go up and arms over tongue and cheek comments and deem them racist because they can make a field day off it stop that. As well as realize that that type of language is taken and I guess you can say enjoyed by a vast variety of different people. While the majority of hip hop arist are black, their music is listened to by the majority of people between the ages of 10 and 30, and that language makes it's way into everyday conversation.
