If you mean a glass bottle, you will need a diamond tipped drill bit for your drill, of that size. You do it slowly, so it won't break the glass. I would use a China Marker (grease pencil) to mark the spot ahead of time so you don't miss the spot.

Fifth size? You mean like a booze bottle? Glass, I presume, rather than plastic?
Optic light? Are you making a lamp out of a booze bottle?
Hey, I know you didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition but little details like that might matter.
Sounds like you're drilling a quarter inch hole in a glass bottle. Got a drill press? If not I fear it may be a b*tch to get a hole started with a hand held drill because glass is pretty hard and the bit will want to wander. Well, you don't know till you try, just make sure your drill bit is way sharp.
