I have always wondered this, because I always see it as a way for women to hide. And this is why I have never worn, and I have still always been told I was beautiful. But now that I am maturing I think that I want to start experimenting. What do you think is it kind of deceiving to wear makeup?

Young girls wear makeup to build their self-confidence. But as we grow more mature, we become more self-assured, so we need less and less of the "mask" that the media tries to tell us we need.

If you have been told you are beautiful without makeup, then you are certainly both beautiful and confident. In my opinion, you do not need makeup.

I do wear makeup once a year, when I dress up in an elaborate "costume," usually to go to a Christmas party, at which time I put on my "mask," tons of makeup. It does not make me more "beautiful;" it simply adds to the charade.

So, I would ask yourself what your motive is for wanting to "experiment" with makeup. Hopefully, you are not "buying into" advertising which implies that you are less beautiful without makeup. Just my opinion.

It is my strong belief that even though make-up can enhance a person's physical features, it will definitely not turn a "not so fortunate looking" person into a goddess. With that said, no I do not think make-up is like lying. Make-up can be fun if you know how to wear it. Be careful not to cake on your foundation, and avoid heavy eyeshadow and lipstick. Start out with some concealer, lip gloss, and mascara and go from there depending on mood and occasion. Do a little bit of research on what shades go with your eye and hair color. You will be beautiful either way and ultimately it is up to you whether you choose to play up your look a little!

Makeup used correctly enhances and accents good features and refines and hides some common and troubling things like blemishes or discoloration.
If used in moderation, I think it is your choice and very much an accepted practice.
Is wearing a good fitting undergarment deceiving? Same concept. No-we live in the modern world. Use what is available to make yourself feel good about you!

I think it's a shame that women feel they have to wear makeup to be acceptable. However, if you say that wearing makeup is like lying, you also have to say that these are lies: getting braces to correct crooked teeth; wearing control-top pantyhose; tweezing your eyebrows; shaving; getting your nose fixed; getting your hair permed. These are all forms of disguising what we would look like if we didn't do some intervention. I guess you have to decide for yourself where to draw the line on "lying."

in a way it is. for some people, they use it to cover up every flaw that they have. but they should be confidant to just show their natural beauty at times. dont start now if you havent because then people wont think of you as fake, and they will admire that. being confidant without having any help for products if amazing, take advantage of that.

No wearing makeup is not lying. It's not any more deceitful than wearing clothes. People can tell when a person is wearing makeup.

And covering what we wish to conceal either w/ pretty makeup or w/ flattering clothes is a matter of privacy - or courtesy. (ha, ha)

Is it lying to cut your hair in a particular style that suits you or to color your hair or to shave your legs? Is it lying to wear clothes that flatter you or worse to wear a bra? Naaah. You're safe in wanting to wear some makeup to bring out your best features.

you're not telling people that you're not wearing make up so you're not lying. i like to wear make up just when i need that extra boost of self confidence. make up just helps bring out the parts of you that are naturally beautiful.
