I'm stick-shift all the way. I like being able to rock back and forth at red lights, then bark tires when the light turns green.

You just can't do that as well in an automatic....

I seriously have a power control problem.. I HATE cars that drive themselves! Gimme a 5 speed any DAY!

I prefer the sticks, too, but if there are multiple drivers on the same car, the clutching techniques and wear patterns will be different from driver to driver, which might make some detrimental difference\, not much. Automatics give people more ability to use their hands for cell phone calls, eating, shaving, or other things they aren't supposed to do, so manual transmission cars are really safer.

I love stick shift. Knocking it down a gear and hooning up a hill, it feels so good. I like that you can do more with your hands etc in an automatic but it's probably a bad thing to be that distracted.

Stick by far. I like being in complete control over my vehicle. also find that I am much less likely to do something that draws my attention from the road when I have to shift frequently. That is why I like my 15 year old Ranger. It has manual controls on everything.

Automatic, but I'm glad I can drive a stick. I've had to drive friend's cars home after they drank more alcohol than is smart. At least they were smart enough to have someone else drive.

Automatic !
I'm not synchronized enough for a stick shift ! I stall all
the time !
The last time my sister was in the car with me, she almost
peed in her pants while I was rocking and rolling and stalling !

Hugs,

automatic...whenever I've tried driving a stick I find myself looking at my feet instead of the road!

I have been driving a stick for twenty five years. Went through a lot of clutches.
