They are not alike at all. In a linear function, x and y are related in some constant way y is some multiple of x plus some constant. In an exponential function, however, y can greatly increase or greatly decrease as x increases.

No ,they are very different.
Exponentials are always positive while linear can have any sign
exponential increase and decrease in a stronger way than linear
