Sometimes it takes babies a little while to adjust to baby food. The taste, texture, and many other things are different. Every baby spits it out at first, but the key is being patient and persistant. Offer it to her everyday until she gets used to it. Try giving her hawaiian delight or bananas first because they taste the best. Feed her the food before you give her a bottle. Once she has ate the food then give her the bottle, and she will start taking less formula. I started both of my kids on level 1 baby food at 4 months old. Babies have to adjust to it so just work with her and give it some time. She'll come around. Some people use the infant feeders when starting baby food at first becase some babies have trouble using their tongue to get it to the back of their mouth to swallow it. They look like a bottle, but are just a little bit different. I used them with my son for about two weeks, but my daughter did fine the first time around. Wal-mart and walgreen's carry them for sure if you are interested. Drinking to much formula can cause her to gain a lot of excessive weight! And don't listen to the jerk that said to tell her it's a penis. He's obviously an arrogant a**!!! Good luck and remember to be patient!!!

If she's drinking 8oz of formula before you feed her jarred food.... she's probably full. Try feeding her the solid food first, before the bottle... when she's hungry but not crying for food. If she's crying for food, go ahead and feed her a couple ounces of the bottle and then try the solid food again. So it could be that she's too full for solids after having a bottle....
But it also could be she's just not ready for solids..... Not every baby is ready to start solids by 6 months... But you should still keep trying at least once a day to offer her solids until she comes around to the idea.

Rather than putting the food into her mouth, hold the spoon up to her lips and allow her to suck the food off the spoon, that should help reduce or eliminate spitting out. It may be that she hasn't completely lost her tongue thrust reflex yet, so she has a hard time moving the food to the back of her mouth. Most babies lose it somewhere between 4-6 months, though some take longer.

babies DO NOT need solids until AT LEAST 6 months, and then they just need rice cerial, or JUST potato pureed (for a week), then pumpkind pureed (for a week) and GRADUALLY introduce food for one meal a day ONLY and gradually build up until 11 months, where she should then be on 3 meals.
Don't force, and maybe try fresh food. Jar food can be nasty, and breeds bad habits.
And wait 1 - 2 hours after a bottle so that she is not full.
Make a whole heap of pureed (not mashed) potato, make sure you put in some water so it is not to thick, and freeze it in an ice cube tray. Then just heat up what you need, when you need it.

Keep trying work of getting her to open her mouth for the spoon and let the mouth close before you remove the spoon...also you can try making baby food, I found my daughter likes it a lot better and doesn't spit it out, you can find easy recipes online, this way you can control the consistency and what she is getting. It can take a lot to get a baby use to food.

First off I can not believe the comment that I have just read.
Second, at the beginning of learning how to eat solids babies do push the food out of there mouth. It can be a sign that they are not ready for solids or that they are trying to figure all of it out. I just put the spoon up to my son and he sucks it off of the spoon. Good luck.

Try different flavors. It might be that she just didn't like the particular flavor that you gave her. Also try giving her really small spoonfuls to begin with, to make the transition from milk/formula to jar food a little easier.
Good luck!

If she spits it out, she just might not be ready for solids. She will let you know when she is ready. I would wait a week or so and then try again with baby rice or oatmeal cereal.

ok well give her a full 8oz bottle for sure...formula right? and most babies will spit food out until they learn it is to be eaten. you just gotta keep trying, morning , lunch , dinner BEFORE you give her the bottle.... start with fruits, sweet kinds....that way she likes the taste and will learn to swallow it. they say to start with meat now but i never listened to that, fruit and veggies first
