Oh they are white! They are not Danio eggs! and they are not snails! They are tinny round bugs that can freely swim but also crawl on the tank walls. They like to stay at they bottom and in the corners of the tank. I wish i could get a picture but the are too small! sorry!

I would also like to see a picture. I can think of things that would be free swimming, or would crawl on the glass, but not usually both. If not a picture, maybe more description - legs present/absent, number of legs, size (length, width, thickness), eyes present/absent. I'll check back in a bit.

ADDITION:
From the size and new info, my guess would be some type of copepod, larger rotifer, ostracod, or daphnia. Here are some photographs of copepods taken under a microscope: http://www.gpmatthews.nildram.co.uk/microscopes/pondlife_copepoda.html

And some of rotifers: http://www.microimaging.ca/rotifer.htm

Ostracod: http://www.vims.edu/bio/zooplankton/assets/Pspinirostris.jpg

Daphnia: http://www.stars.rdg.ac.uk/daphnia/daphnia.jpg

The copepod will move in a "jerky" motion - others are smoother. If you have a microscope, or know anyone who does, if you can capture a few maybe the photos above will help you identify the critters. You might be able to see them well enough just using a magnifying glass. These are things more commonly found in ponds, so I'm not sure how they might have entered your tank. For the most part, they're harmless and might even be eaten my small fish or fry. The only one I'd be concerned about is the copepod - some of these might be larval stages of a parasite called anchorworm: http://www.geocities.com/steevward/anchorworm.html

If none of these seems right, let me know.

ADDITION 2: Try this photo - it's possible these might be insects that are recently hatched: http://www.newsday.com/media/photo/2003-10/9946832.jpg
If they're a bug like that in the photo, they are predatory and they may eat the fry. As adults, these have wings and can fly - maybe some eggs were laid in the tank.

If not, try these websites:

Hi! Ugh that's creeepy! I never heard anything like thhat before. So I just now looked it up on the internet and I am pretty sure they are a type of bug called Copepods, It did say that they are white so I am not sure if the bugs that you are seeing are white. These are shrimp-like crustaceans that dwell in the substrate as adults, but during their larval and juvenile stages are most often free swimming. Amphipods are mostly found in marine ecosystems, but there are some freshwater and terrestrial species.
They are just a few of the tiny animal organisms that make up zooplankton, which contributes to the make up of plankton.
( This is what i found on http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/pestscopepods/a/aa061200.htm ) ( SO I am not sure if this is what is in your tank but I hope that this helps you! And maybe you can look up these bugs and see if you can get rid of them some how :) I wish that I could of helped more GOOD LUCK *guppylover*

i don't know what they would be but i know there are a type of mosquito larvae that look kind of round. but if i were you i would take a small jar and catch some of the bugs with some of the tank water then take it to an aquarium shop they should know what they are and if the bugs are bad they will give you some parasite remedy

Snails can spawn enough to make you want to vomit. Maby thats what you have. Try a picture post pls.

Could it be danio eggs?

After reading your additions, could it be water lice?
