If you want some performance heads, get performance heads and don't screw around with heads from a smaller motor. Get some 202 heads from an old 350 or something like that. You want the same type of a head, maybe with a smaller cc's rating but with bigger valves for more flow and hence more power. To increase compression ratio, try using the competition head gaskets or truck head gaskets which are thinner which boosts comp. ratio. Good luck.

Yes it will work as long as the bolts line up straight 305 and 350 are about the same as long as the 350 is a small block or the 305 is a big block it should all fit the same anyway

The basic problem with 305s is that the engines don't "breathe" very well. This is fine for truck engines where low end torque is desired, but in a perormance application it severely limits top end power. You are better off finding some better flowing heads off another 350, or purchasing some aftermarket performance heads and installing those.

you can put 305 heads on a 350 but you will get more if you find a good 350 head casting and have them worked at a machine shop

I hear the same thing. But there are always other considerations. Especially mounting holes for alternators, AC compressors, etc. Also, I recall the exhaust ports on 305 heads are slightly offset from 350s.

yes you can put 305 heads on a 350 but why would you it really puts more stress on the rest of the engine when you do so why do something that is going to make more work for you in the long run?

GM does not even recomend swaping a complete 350 engine for the 305 (although this can be done). The warranty (if any) is voided for this swap. Changing the heads only would not be recommended.

they will work, but all the 305 heads arent the "good ones" some were just like the other small blocks, and then some were the higher compression ones, you have to know which type by the metal stamping on them

305 heads are not really special. They might even be the same cc heads you already have. If you go with a smaller cc head, it will increase your compression ratio...maybe too much.
It might not even pay to rebuild a set of junkyard heads. You should look into places like Jegs or Summit to find good new heads.

Ford has more suitable plenty over the years. Their commercials are also informative and pleasing together. I believe Leanne, Chevy only compares their automobiles and SUVS to Toyota and Honda.
