What's he going to do put 64% of the United States in prison?

This is one of the very fundamental reasons for the first amendment. It allows for criticism of the government, and its current personal entities.

It is also political, with the basis above, if the president tries to counter much of the criticism presented to him, he could be seen as violating the first amendment giving new leverage to his opponents.

Finally, addressing the multitude of criticism, especially since some of it can indeed be countered, deemed illogical, or in fact may be a fad of politics (Bush bashing because others are doing it) would not make the president look respectable as he is giving credit to such statements that are not truly respectable.

Politics has its complications and nothing ever is what it seems.

That's an excellent question. I'm sure that Rosie and other celebrities would love to see themselves as the target of a liable suit so that they can expose some damaging facts that are covered up by our complicit U.S. media.

President Bush and other politicians are too smart to expose themselves in court. Instead, they will use the stealthful approach that has served them well over the years.

The black list is now a secret black list. At least McCarthy was up front about his lists.

It's a first amendment, freedom of speech thing. His critics are lucky that they are U.S. cititzens. If they were citizens of some of the Middle or Far Eastern countries, and they criticized the Number One guy, they might hear a knock on the door in the middle of the night and would never be heard from ever again.

Excuse me!! Haven't you heard? Laura Bush reads - George Bush does not.

Besides he does stand up and takes action. Every time there's a photo option he criticizes everyone who criticize him. Then he tries to fill us with more lies.

What do you want him to do, form a secret police to find everyone who writes something bad about him. Then, those police could beat, imprison, torture, or kill all of those people. It is my sincere hope that he has better things to do than track down criticism, lies, and rumors. I suggest you take a look at the quality of life in countries where leaders do spend much of their time focusing on criticism and rumors.

That would be assuming he was intelligent enough to turn the computer on in the first place...Yes!
Then, he would actually have to read..like he was pretending to do when the first tower was attacked. What a brave and intelligent self elected leader, on film sitting there dumbfounded, not knowing what to do.
Now that is a man that is intelligent, no?
Oh, wait the same man who shot a bald eagle and bragged about it? Isn't that illegal? Or are you on glue?

~The only time he takes action is when it has to do with killing our young people and spending our money.
As far as the criticism, it's true! He knows he's a weenie and most people know it. Why would he want to draw more negative attention to himself?..heh~

What can he do about public opinion? It's a free country after all. We have our opinions and voice them. He could cry about it but there is NO action he could take.

I notice he didn't really stand up and tell the Swift Boat crock of whores to stop telling lies and criticizing Kerry.

Instead, he nominated their major benefactor to an ambassadorship to Belgium!

He knows he is guilty of the same, so he has to tolerate it.

Secondly, what can he do about it? Burn down the freakin internet?
