I used to be really scared of lightening when I was younger, but now not so much. What I figured out is that I am really scared of fire... lightening could start a fire. Now that I am older and wiser though I realize the probability of lightning striking something near me and starting a fire is really nothing to worry about :)

I think you should be, I am, try walking across an open field, or being out on a boat during a lightning storm, if you can hear thunder, you are in danger of being struck by lightning, get indoors right away. The chances of getting struck by lightning are a lot better than most people think. Lightning is way dangerous !!!!!!

NOT, i know what precautions to take in order to protect myself from lightning, as an experienced storm spotter/chaser, i have been trained on how to detect the warning signs of a lightning strike before it occurs, thus allowing me to take the necessary steps to protect myself and my chase team in the field since we're constantly putting ourselves into that situation. but for those who are afraid of thunder, just remember...

Thunder is just a noise, LIGHTNING does the work, and if you take the appropriate precautions you will be just fine.
