Tinfoil Barbs would indeed be too big for your tank. Tiger barbs and green barbs would do just fine.

Nope. Too crowded. The tinfoil barbs on my own get huge and should be kept in faculties larger than that in any case. The Oscar and Pleco on my own should be plenty for that tank. Plecos and Oscars are very VERY grimy fish. i ought to really evaluate a smaller type of pleco like a bristlenose or rubberlip.

tinfoils live 8-10 years according to wiki, and they grow to 14 inches.

so yes they are probably too big. Unless your going to upsize sometime.

Here is the rate of what you should get. you have a 37gallon tank.

So with gravel decorations filter downtubes and such you probably have 33 or so gallons of water to work with.

1 inch of full grown fish per gallon of water.

This gives you about 4-5 inches of fish to work with for starters.

Go out and pick out 4-5 inches of tetra's (don't count the tail) and continue cycleing your tank and checking your water for PH, Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates. Follow directions on the test kits, they will tell you what everything meens. Once they level out you can add more fish.

Only add about 33 or so inches of fish to this completed aquarium. Thats all it can handle. If you have a octigon or hexigon or strange type tank this will be even less.

Please let the tank run for a few days and seed it with purchased benificial bactiria you can buy in a bottle. Or use gravel from a safe healthy established tank.
