The lamp has a downcast "face". People identify with faces--big time. Facial recognition in crucial for our species. Facial recognition is darn near a genetic imprint.

The GM commercial where a robot has a nightmare about getting fired is an excellent example. Adding eyes and mouth are very handy, because they are the most expressive parts of the face, and humans automatically focus on them.

If you can add eyes and mouth, you've got it made. Twitching nose is a plus. Good luck with the project and have fun.

How about using a twist-tie, you know, those green paper things with a wire in them for closing bags in the produce section? It could be put into all sort of shapes to convey the emotion you want, and changing emotions. Good luck.

Yes! personification means giving an identity to something not necessarily alive. You should mention Jealousy at least once or twice in the body of your poem so the teacher knows what you are describing...

it was all in the presentation and the type of lamp that looks like something with a body and head...a t.v. could do the same thing...give it a face with fangs and have it devouring children...that'd work well.
