They don't seem legit (DUBIOUS) because they're in small caps and nothing is inside these folders (0 bytes). I tried deleting them but a window always appears saying that "Cannot delete ... : It is being used by another person or program. " I don't know they're caused by some virus or whatever. Can anyone just tell me what these are??

When I read this, at first I thought you might have a virus... As things like keyloggers tend to try to hide data in Program Files somewhere... but also often do a sloppy job.

However, I checked by Front Page installation, and it's in lower-case too! Well, leave it to Microsoft. So, I would not be worried. They are just programs. To remove them, try going to the control panel and use the Add or Remove Programs tool.

Microsoft Frontpage is Microsofts webpage making program. It might have been included in any Microsoft package you installed, like Office. It's actually not very good at all, known for filling your code up with unneeded garbage... and it adds "call-home" meta-tags.

Xerox is a company that makes photo-copiers ofcourse. They also make Printers, scanners, etc. You probably installed a driver for them at one point, and it decided to add somehting to your Program Files.

I think both are part of your Office suite.

Microsoft FrontPage is a page layout style Web editor. These programs (i.e. Macromedia Dreamweaver, or Adobe Go!Live...) share the main functionalities of designing and managing Web sites. In FrontPage, managing and designing the Web site is done through differents Views.

FrontPage 2000 Components/Views
The Views Tool Bar typically on the left side of the screen, provides access to these various components, which we will refer to as views from now on. The following screenshot illustrates FrontPage's interface. The icons on the Views bar provide different ways of looking at the information on your page or in your Web site. As you work with FrontPage, you'll frequently switch between views to match the current task at hand from the early steps of creating a page, to the moment a whole Web site is ready to be published on the World Wide Web.

As for the Xerox folder, so far I haven't found anything. Open it and see if there is a help button.

Microsoft Frontpage is indeed used for creating web pages, but should have no effect on viewing pages already on the web.

I don't know what could be holding onto the directories.

Microsoft frontpage is what allows you to be able to see the internet. Its an HTML program that is most likely set as your internet coder. If you delete this program then all you will see when you go to sites is a bunch of program lines. As for the xerox I'm not to certain but I think it is also part of the programming for your internet enjoyment. :)
