Mystery Gift is meant to connect to Nintendo's Wonderspot devices so that you can download things such as the Aurora Ticket, the Mystic Ticket and in Emerald - the Old Sea Chart. The Aurora Ticket will have you sent to Birth Island - this is where you can catch Deoxys. Mystic Ticket will send you to Navel (or Navel Rock) Island which is where Lugia and Ho-Oh are both at and the Chart will send you to Faraway Island which is where Mew is at. Sadly Nintendo only uses Wonderspots at their Nintendo events so there's no way to use Mystery Gift except for at those events.
