If you are a carpenter, and it does not make any difference to you how you use the tool, that Hammer, then I do not want to buy your house, let alone live in it. Same thing goes for your words. I am interested in talking to people who realize how powerful the words that they speak are. If you are not one of those people, just do not respond. It's that simple!

Huh? Who's calling you stupid?
Not me!

I agree with you...words are powerful.

Some people who are really good with words, and enjoy wordplay, have a hyper-sensitivity about how words are used and spelled, and they point out misuse and misspelling, figuring that the other person would *want* to know, just as *they would want to know.*

For instance, before I even "got" the context of your post, I noticed (almost subconciously) your use of "effect" (incorrect) rather than "affect" (correct.) Now that is a particularly tricky one. I only point it out to say, it is not any referendum on you as a person, nor is it "stupid", but there are so many millions of words and word combinations.....practice makes perfect.

The less offended you are by people correcting you, the smarter you will be. The most humble are able to learn the most.

Just bear in mind, whenever you put questions into an open forum online, you will get all sorts of responses...most of us honestly want to help, but there will always be one or two who only want to criticize in a hurtful way.

FYI: It is "AFFECT" not "effect" our lives.

Words are powerful, and we need to use them very, very carefully. But what do we do in a world full of people, who just throw any word at any place??

I agree with questioner and thinking.
I love words and feel that they enrich the world and our experience of it. Can we form ideas in our mind without the words for our inner dialogue?

I am one of those 'sensitives' who cringe to hear careless speech and don't even get me started on apostrophes!

wow... "Thinking" I think you settled that one. By the way, words do have meaning but they do not build a house.

It would actually be "AFFECT" and not effect.

...How words AFFECT our lives!
