I have never been pregnant.. I am a male.. however I can tell you as a husband and a father that having a baby is something that you were born to be able to do..I have seen some of the discomfort that mothers go through.. My wives, there were two, did quite well.. the first time is a bit scary and that is understandable.. afterall you don't know what to expect... but according to both my wives it was not something that they couldn't do...I have two grand children.. their mothers did wonderfully well.. I think you will have some more aprehension but I also believe that it will not be unbearable for you.. females have this enormous amount of strenght that allows child birth and I have a great deal of respect for all mothers... I wish I could be that strong.. as for breast feeding.. as an observer.. I witnessed breast feeding and am completely amazed by how natural and beautiful it is. I never heard anyone complain about a discomfort of breast feeding... Only that on some occasions there was a bit too much milk in the breast and my wife had to use a pump to give her relief.. birthin pain.. for me would be a 10.. I bet for you it will be about a 4.. you can do this.. it is natural and you are strong.. God bless you and your child..

Congratulations! Babies are sweet. Breastfeeding, if you can do it. It is the best, but if you can't or don't want to don't feel bad. I have only experienced pain when I have had a breast infection or clogged duct. Labor, well seeing how I didn't go through that, I don't know. I had a C-section (unplanned non emergency) no problems recovering. So if you have a C-section don't be scared. I had my son circumcised, in my personal opinion it is more hygienic and easier to care for. (I have a friend with 3 boys non of which are circumcised. ) That is your decision to make, just keep in mind it is less painful for him now than it will be later. Umbilical cord cleaning, I used an alcohol swab once a day, the nurses told me it would heal faster if I didn't do anything to it, but it looked gross, and I was worried, it healed in 10 days. Go to the bookstore and find a pregnancy book, or go to www.parentcenter.com they have lots of information. The one thing I wish I had known is that morning sickeness lasts all day...lol ack. Good luck!

I wish I'd been warned that about 3 months after giving birth all of my hair would start falling out. Well, not all of it because its really thick, but literally handfulls a day for a couple of months.
I'd love to give you breastfeeding tips, but I had a breast reduction surgery about a decade ago that severed my ducts and I was never able to. But I believe the two most recommended sites on breastfeeding would be la leches and www.kellymom.com
Umbilical cord cleaning: Not really that tough, when my son was born nearly 4 years ago we were advised to use rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab around the base at every diaper change. Fast forward 4 years and with my daughter we were just told to keep it dry and clean until it fell off.
Circumsision: Our son is, it healed well. Care for it was vaseline, just don't go overboard or you'll turn the diaper waterproof and all the pee will leak out.

breast feeding if done right doesnt hurt. labor depends on the amount of pain you can take. mine was easy. umbilical cord cleaning is easy. after each diaper change get an alcohal pad and wipe the outer area around it and then push it over in all four directions and gently wipe it there too. with a boy you just change the wrap after every diaper change and put petroleum jelly or antibiotic stuff on the area and rewrap. babies are very resiliant. they are very tollerant lf a lot of mistakes just do what you feel is right and what you are told by mom or dr and you will be just fine

I found out that breastfeeding is not as easy as it looks! Yes, it does hurt a bit at first, but stick with it and you'll get used to it, PLUS, it's better than liposuction for burning fat after pregnancy. I only breastfed (no bottles) for 1 year and ended up slimmer than my pre-pregnancy size. Also, if your doctor thinks you need an episiotomy, get it, it's much easier to repair than tearing. One more thing....don't read too many books. Everyone has a different opinion. Just learn as you go, that's the beauty of it.

I'd wish someone told me that contractions don't always start {so many} minutes apart. Mine were back to back and intense from the very start and I thought something was wrong.
I wish someone would have told me that it's okay for your baby to sleep through the night from the very beginning. My daughter did and I thought something was wrong with her, lol.
I know those sound silly, but it's true :)
Congrats and good luck :D

I had "heard" of afterbirth, but I did not know what it was.
After I had my daughter the doctor just sat there staring between my legs. I got so nervous, then all of a sudden, BLOP.....out came that nasty "guts looking thing".
I had NO CLUE..............I was ready for it with my son:) (2nd)
