The lady at the pet store said he was saltwater but I want to make my tank into salt, so I think he will be okay I want him to eat the guppies there are so many of them.

it depends on the type of puffer. Some will stay comfortable in a 10 for that long, some will outgrow it before January come around. You need to look up the type you have and check for your specific species.

If you have put a saltwater puffer in a freshwater tank, it's not a point anyway, he will be dead in no time at all.

um...
if you are talking about a porcupine puffer,,,
they are SALTwater fish.
not to mention a 10 gal. tank can not hold a 2 foot fish...geez.
and the guppies, if you even have any left, they are not salt water fish so I think you are a little confused.
Honestly, I dont know what to tell you, but you just wasted a whole lot of money.

NO. Take it back. Dwarf puffers are cute, but they are MEAN. Extremely aggressive and NOT for the community tank. They have a beak and will take chunks out of your guppies.
